The Gurdwara Sahib Selayang Baru, Selangor Darul Ehsan

The Gurdwara Sahib Selayang Baru is situated about seven miles out of the Malaysian capital City Kuala Lumpur, on the main road North towards IPOH. The Well known tourist attraction Batu Caves of Thaipusam fame is a stone's throw away from this magnificent Gurdwara.

GSSB as it is popularly known among the local Sikh population,the Gurdwara serves a Sikh population of about 1000 residing mainly in the neighbourhoods namely Selayang, Selayang Baru, Taman Seri Melati, Selayang Jaya, Batu caves, Sri Gombak, Taman Wahyu, Jalan Ipoh, Kepong , Jinjang etc.

The Gurdwara is run by a well qualified group of Gurmukhs who are elected by the sangat for two year terms.

There is  active Youth participation in the affairs of the Gurdwara led by the Akal Purakh Ki Fauj Unit. The Akal Purakh Ki fauj Selayang is led by a group of very dedicated parents who also teach Kirtan and carry out a host of other activities every fortnight, that teach the young about our religion and history as well as language and culture.

The ladies run their own Ladies satsang programme every Wednesday Afternoon, usually well attended by all the ladies.

The main weekly satsang programme is held on FRIDAY evenings from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm. This is a very well attended programme of kirtan and katha.

The Gurdwara sahib also runs a PUNJABI LANGUAGE School and a library as well. Plans are afoot to introduce COMPUTERS and MULTI MEDIA to the young men and women of the Akal Purakh Ki fauj Unit and Punjabi School students to bring them in touch with  modern techonology. The PunjabI School teacher is Master Ji Jarnail Singh Dhillon "Arshi" Gyani who is  a GYANI graduate of Punjab University and well versed in Computers, Multimedia, as well as English and Punjabi including Gurbani and Sikh History.
